I have done many dragonfly Batiks over the years. The delicate cracking of the wax is perfect for their wings. In this one, I have experimented with blue over light brown to get the blue/grey colour of the background. In Batik, each colour goes on top of the one before therefore changing it. Sometimes you have to be really brave and try really weird combinations. I always say that the colour work in Batik is the real skill.
This original Batik painting 'Dragonflies in the Reeds' is mounted and beautifully framed in a brushed gold Italian wood frame (990mm x 520mm inc. frame) with its own custom made light-box. It SOLD in the Summer Exhibition for £395
I have used a fresher brighter blue, on high threadcount Egyptian cotton, for this original Batik 'Dragonflies' lampshade. The fine cotton is necessary to get the delicate detail and fine 'cracking' on the dragonflies' wings and the background.
The design continues unrepeated all the way round the shade, so each day you can turn it for a different view!.
